What is KETO anyway?
And why should I consider trying ketones?
Eating keto is choosing a low carb, high fat diet. The goal is to get into ketosis - which means your body is producing ketones through ketogenesis by the means of burning fat. When in ketosis your body will use fat for fuel, not sugar... which comes from carbs and sugars that we consume. Your body burns stored fat as well as uses the fat you eat for energy.
NUTRITIONAL Ketosis can take a week or even a month to achieve... until your body learns to burn stored fat for energy verses glucose. Traditionally, eating strict keto means tracking your food carefully and precisely and limits the foods you can eat. If you make any mistakes eating strict keto, you are bumped out of Ketosis. Additionally, so many variables affect ketone production in addition to carb consumption. Hormones, lack of sleep, stress & medications are just some examples that can keep your body from making ketones.
I love the idea of eating healthy, but I wanted to make a choice that would be sustainable for me and my family for a lifetime. Even though it works for some, strict keto is too restrictive and stressful for me. I now enjoy the freedom to eat keto and experience the benefits of ketosis while not missing out on life... with ketones in hand!
